OSLC Men's Fly Fishing Ministry

Gary's 10th birthday was during the week of the 4th of July. The week before his birthday, Gary was telling his parent's, Paula and Gary Yost II,
about the pain he'd been continuing to experience in his shoulder and they took him to the doctor. The doctor ran some tests and sent them all immediately
to Children's Hospital in Seattle. The doctor's there ran some tests, did a CT Scan and/or an MRI and found a tumor, 3 inches long, located
on one of his ribs - right next to his heart and lungs! They ran some further tests, including a biopsy, and determined it to be an aggressive
type of cancer, sarcoma cancer. Gary started Chemotherapy the week of his 10th birthday and also started a long journey to recovery.

Gary just happens to be Paul's nephew and Gary, along with Gary's parents, the Remington family, the Tveter family, and all of Gary's close relatives
NEED YOUR PRAYERS!

Please pray for Gary to endure this treatment and be fully healed, for God's healing hand to be with the doctor's, for Gary's family to endure this time too,
and for the cancer to be destroyed permenantly. Also pray that it does not spread to his bones, heart, or lungs.
The picture below shows Gary after his first round of chemo, and although he is keeping a great attitude and looks like he's having fun,
the tube you see is a feeding tube being used to feed him at this time. He lost 4 pounds as a result of the first round of chemo!

Gary is only one of 4 children to have the type of rib replacement procedure
his treatment required and will have to go in to have his "ribcage" adjusted several times a year
until he has grown to the point his bones have fused.

Along with your prayers, as another show of support, we here at OSLC Men's Fly Fishing Ministry and a local Fly Fishing business, Wilderness Angler, provided Gary with his own fly
tying equipment and materials for him to use during his recovery to make it a postive time. He has tied a few flies using Paul's equipment before finding out about the cancer and
really wants to learn more and continue. We thought it would be six months before he'd be up to trying to tie flies after his final treatment, but as you can see, it didn't
take 6 months before he was ready to get tying!

If you would like to help, he needs everything. If you do decide you'd like to help, please contact us via the Contact Us page of our website.
Tell us what you'd like to provide, we'll let you know if we have already have one coming or we will provide you with an address to send it to,
and we will make note of what has donated so we don't get multiples of the major equipment. Please provide us with your name and address so we can include
your name on the card when we give it to him to show him how many people are rooting for him. We will also keep you periodically informed of his condition
and put a list of what we have received on the website for you to look at.

Thank you all in advance for supporting Gary and may God bless you indeed!

  • Tuesday, July 24, 2007 9:48:28 PM — Gary came home yesterday from his second round of Chemo and is back in next Friday for another 3 day round.
This 4 day/5 night stint that he just got home from went better than the first round (sickness wise), but he did seem to be more tired.
Continue to pray for healing and strength during the chemo and that the tumor shrinks in size and can be removed as planned sometime in October.
